Sharing Stories

One of the best parts of creating stories is sharing them with others! Unfortunately, sharing stories is a little complicated with Twine, but it is still possible. When you want to share, follow these steps:

Downloading the Story

First, download the story from Twine.

1. In Twine, open the story menu on the bottom left
2. Select the "Publish to File" option
   
3. Choose a folder for the download, and click "Save"
   

Creating a Repl Project

Next, you will need a place to host your story. This is possible with Replit.

1. In a new tab, go to Replit
2. In the upper right, click on the "Login" button
   
3. Enter login credentials if you have an account, or enter these:
   • username: hylandstudent
   • password: hyland
4. Click the "Log in" button
   
5. On the next page, in the upper right, click the + button
   
6. In the popup, pick HTML, CSS, JS as the Language
7. Enter your name for the Repl name
8. Click the "Create repl" button
   

Adding the Story to the Repl Project

Now that the project has been created, you will need to add your story to it!

1. Drag the downloaded story file into the "Files" area
   
2. In the "Files" area, click the three dots to the right of the index.html file
3. In the popup menu, select "Delete"
   
4. In the popup that appears, click "Yes, delete this file"
5. Back in the "Files" area, click the three dots to the right of your story file
6. In the popup menu, select "Rename"
7. Enter "index.html" as the new filename
8. On the right side of the page, highlight and copy the URL above the preview
   

Share the URL, and people will be able to see your story!
